There is a blueprint here which details what needs to be done, but it's not planned or targeted for a specific release at the moment: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/security-r-app-gsettings Keep in mind, GSettings is ok for some of the trusted core applications, as they aren't running confined.
