I'm not sure this is relevant to your original question, but we've had a long-standing goal in Ubuntu at-large to promote Python 3 as the default, and to remove Python 2 from default installs. For 14.04, we won't be able to demote Python 2 to universe. It's likely unfeasible to remove it from the default desktop image yet, but I *am* confident we'll be able to have only Python 3 on the default touch (and possibly server) images. That's a different question than whether Python is supported in the SDK, and not my decision. But if it ever were to be supported, it would have to be Python 3. Cheers, -Barry
