I think this is a drastic improvement over the existing Clock application, I do have some feedback regarding it:1. With Design starting to utilize the bottom edge, how will the bottom edge be utilized in the clock app? 2. I think the night mode and settings icons (appears to be a settings icon, feel free to elaborate exactly what functionality that button provides) should be placed in the Toolbar / Footer. It cleans up the page slightly and utilizes the Toolbar design. Users will be expecting the buttons to be there, as a lot of core apps properly utilize the Toolbar.
3. I like the clean mix between digital and traditional clock design in the current Clock app. The UI with only the traditional UI does not make it absolutely clear exactly what time it is. I understand there is the digital clock app, but I think it should be something like utilizing the digital clock design (showing HH:MM) for the world clock / other timezones, while maintaining the existing mixture between digital and traditional clock design of the current Clock app for the primary (user) timezone. 4. Due to the vast amount of design changes and other factors, we (Myself and other core apps devs) came to the conclusion that starting fresh would be better rather than modifying the old clock app. Some of the main reasons behind this decision were, Timer and Stopwatch are not present in the new clock app. The designers do have a plan to introduce Timer and Stopwatch later but this will most likely happen post RTM. If we were to modify the old clock app, that would mean removing more than 50% of the code out in the process. The world clocks back end needs to be rewritten to use the new QTimezone class introduced since Qt 5.2. The Clock UI has changed drastically requiring a complete rewrite of the UI code of the old clock. While I do understand that this close to the RTM it is rather risky to be doing something as big as this. However I am personally confident that this can be done within the time frame since one of the core functionality alarm can essentially be copied over from the old clock app to the new one. I am also keeping a keen eye on the alarms functionality in the platform side of things. Hopefully next week we can expect to have platform deep sleep wakeup when an alarm is triggered. The plan at the moment is to keep the old clock app on the phone until the new clock app becomes stable at which point we will swap them. We do intend on pushing the old clock app to the store when that happens so that users can still install the old clock app for the timer and stopwatch functionality.
