Hello everyone, QA was signing off all the ready silos in ubuntu-rtm today and will now be switching their focus to vivid. In the next days they will do a full regression suite run for vivid krillin to get a good idea of the current quality baseline. This will give us a good overview of how much more work will be needed before we can branch off to ubuntu-rtm. Remember: because of that for the following 2 weeks the main focus is vivid.
Since we are past feature freeze, currently all the landings for both archives are typically bugfixes. A bunch of good unity8 and UITK changes has landed in 14.09 which might be made available to RC channel users in 3 weeks. Also, for all future sign-offs QA will request landers to provide autopilot results of their project tests. We will also once again reintroduce smoketesting results as a blocking factor for image promotion. This big pressure on automation became more important recently to finally reduce the amount of manual testing that's required during sign-off and overall. If the test situation improves and the required infrastructure is ready, we will finally be able to cover the basic test-cases automatically, giving more freedom to QA. But enough of all the technicalities.
