lsusb does not list the port in question as it does not detect anything on it
It might be a fried chipset but it is so weird for such a thing to happen so suddenly. Furthermore, the battery was fully charged after the phone died (measured voltage 4.2) and this excludes some overheating due to some looping process/app. I ordered a replacement battery so I should have it next week to test if the battery is the problem.
