Hello! With Łukasz away this and next week, I decided to do a summary of this week's news.
The OTA-6 is now being distributed to all Bq phone users too starting Wednesday, and the reception has been good. I'm very happy about the WiFi hotspot feature, which was the last "must have" feature I had on my own list. Also the thumbnailer + cache improvements keep the overall experience climbing towards perfect smoothness. The release notes again: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/ReleaseNotes/OTA-6 Some Meizu MX4 users have reported a bug [1] with the today scope showing only Date and Weather. This seems to affect only some users though, and not exactly a new problem. A full fix is being prepared. We are also following two other Meizu issues (one is [2]) to see if they can be reproduced. If there's found to be a regression, a hotfix would be needed. OTA-7 work has started with roughly 20 targeted bug fixes already done [3]. Also a blocking issue mentioned in these landing e-mails of not requiring apt lists to be pre-installed was fixed. Clock, Music and Terminal apps saw big updates, go ahead and upgrade if you didn't already! I also noticed the Calendar app update on my Bq, even though it's not yet on the default install. One of the noteworthy "behind the scenes" aspects is that Music app received support for content-hub, which means it can be used as a picker. There's a Clock code branch brewing to use that feature to set a custom alarm tone. There were also some discussions to eventually do the same for setting a custom ringtone for calls, an often requested feature, but it needs design first [4].
