It is technically possible if you edit the qml files of Unity 8 :DBut of course 
that is not recommended. I suggest you file a bug as a requested feature.Some 
people might be interested of getting rid the circle.But for me, the bigger 
issue is the usability of the lock screen.It definitely needs a redesign to be 
more usable but stay beautiful ;)

I think he is trying to remove the entire circle, not the statistics...
