sorry just found this
if you get a terminal and type
sudo ifconfig
that will give you the IP address of the machine and be reachable on
that aswell :)
also use the PPA i put on the instructions for the client and the
external address that you get from ifconfig ;)
this will work internally, you would either need fixed IP or dydns and
port forward on the router for external sync ;)

Well, thanks to you, I've already got further than I did the whole of
yesterday!
I appear to be in to OwnCloud on 127.0.0.1/owncloud. :)
A couple of things though - if you don't mind...
Do I need to download the desktop client from the Software Centre?
and
I followed your suggestion of
sudo chown wwww-data:www-data /var/www/owncloud
but the Terminal came back with
chown: invalid user: ‘wwww-data:www-data’
Thanks for all your help

own cloud server if your installing on ubuntu add the following
ppa to get a good working secure owncloud
https://software.opensuse.org/download/package?project=isv:ownCloud:community&package=owncloud
and if you want a good working client on the desktop for ubuntu
use this ppa
https://software.opensuse.org/download/package?project=isv:ownCloud:desktop&package=owncloud-client
Works for me
good luck

That would get cool if you could do a how to. I just started
looking in to OwnCloud. You can spin your own on your own
server, can't you? Would I use OpenVPN to get to it? How do you
keep yours secure?

Ubuntu one was there but thats gone that would have been perfect
Im using owncloud for contacts, calendar and documents
But its a fiddly job but can provide a good how to next week
with my prey how to if that helps
But a integrated GUI for cloud with gui is what the system is
lacking on
like the others come out of the box and offer the service
So if you can get a owncloud up i can give instructions for the
rest
and it works perfect been using it for over a year now :)

I think it was mentioned before that it is planned to have
some kind of a cloud service integrated on the phone.
This means you can sync files to any cloud service you like.
Not sure though if there's already work done for that and if
we'll see it soon.

Hi there,
is there a solution around that allows me to sync all my
files, or
just selected folders, of my home directory across various

broadband.
No.
Frustrating, isn't it? The combination of app confinement
and lifecycle management means you can only sync directories
your confined app can see, when the screen is on and the app
is in the foreground.
