I personally also find annoying that "Events" is > the default view when I start Gallery :-).
Another +1, especially if it ever gets an asciibetical directory-based view. I'd like to navigate images in the same way they're organized in the filesystem. One reason for this is so I can use gallery-app to read manga, which isn't currently feasible.
