I tried VLC and gnome-mplayer in a fresh libertine container (so that I 
don't need to make anything writable)... 
While you can get them to run easily, playback in Xmir only works with 
about 1 frame every 20sec or so. There is no xvideo extension in Xmir or 
any other acceleration method I think.
