it is a bizarrely long standing issue, not only is it quite hard to flip
to the front camera (you can, it is buried in the privacy area of the
browser settings and doesn't stick so you have to keep doing it) but
more than that, the front camera is just inverted on the main production
phone that everyone has https://bugs.launchpad.net/oxide/+bug/1567542
both of these issues are targetted for OTA12, but I am still a bit
puzzled that working end to end video calling using webrtc wasn't a
launch feature or one that they want to get any PR attention from - it
is so tantalizingly close to working and has been from day 1.

Sounds like https://launchpad.net/bugs/1563398, fix targetted for OTA-12.
In the meantime, you can use the browser and change the default camera
in the settings.
