Apologies for this, I didn't fully understand the situation. So apparently all of the apps involved read gsettings¹ to get the SIM names and there's no changes required. Ofono should establish default names.

That means I need to look up what the respective cards are on a regular basis to be sure which is which - there's no way I will remember this, not to mention when traveling I change cards and it's paramount for me to know what card is in there and not accidentally use the wrong one. SIM switchers should display the names of the carriers rather than mere numbers.
