To see what the lower level (ofono) thinks the technology settings is set to, run

Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to mobile settings 2. Change connection type to 2G/3G/4G 3. Reboot device 4. Go to mobile settings again and connection type has reverted to 2G only I guess this is not an intended feature. If so, I strongly suggest that the user is able to choose the default setting.
