Mawaheb, wonderful to hear from you :-) Glad your wanting to help be a part of ubuntu. There are many different ways to get involved in QA. You've come during a busy week, so your timing is great :-)

This week is a cadence week. Take a look at the wiki page below to give you a better idea on what that means, but basically we'll be testing several packages and the images this week together as a team. We've chosen nautilus, empathy, alsa, and the iso images as part of our testing for this week.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Cadence

In addition, I'm hosting two sessions where we'll all gather on #ubuntu-quality to do our cadence testing. The first was today, which you missed :-(. However, the other is Thursday at 1400-1500 UTC on #ubuntu-quality on freenode. We'll be around running through our cadence tests and helping each other out. Try and participate and submit results for the cadence testing -- there's a great tutorial here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Cadence/Walkthrough. Of course the session on Thursday will also help you get started.

As to what else we do, well, these pages should give you a better idea on what's out there:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Activities

We've been exploring automated testing this cycle with autopilot, and lots of resources to get you started there as well. Briefly, autopilot is a python framework for writing automated GUI testcases. Since your studying computer science you might enjoy coding testcases as much as running them :-)

Finally, I'd encourage you to follow @ubuntutesting, and ubuntuqa on g+ to get plugged into what's going on. Your already on the mailing list, so that's great. We also have a facebook group for helping to connect with each other if your on that social network ;-)

Let us know what I can do to help as you get started. Feel free to reach out on this list or #ubuntu-quality on freenode at any time.

Thanks!

Nicholas
