Welcome! We may have just the thing coming for you this cycle. We've been trying to put together a hardware testing database for a couple cycles now, but we're waiting on the platform we intend to use to be ready and launched for us. It should happen at some point this cycle, and yes it will use checkbox, which is the system testing tool that comes with ubuntu. If your familiar with that tool, your all set when the time comes.

Thanks,
Nicholas

one slightly off-topic tip: You can get "powered by Ubuntu" stickers for free from system76.

The ubuntu hardware-test tool is a good tool for testing
compatibility of ubuntu on the hardware you have in
your procession. A great thing about the tool is that you can skip
test options that do not apply to your computer's architecture.
Once the test has completed, the application will create a result
report and send it to the ubuntu developers.

Now, if you really want to start giving back to ubuntu, then join
the *QATeam (posted in the link in the above message)*, and become
an /iso tester/. It would help so much to have ubuntu tested on as
many hardware platforms we can get our hands on.

Thanks for considering joining the team.

        Hey Ubuntu QA,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to send this message, so I
apologize if it's an inconvenience. I own a computer repair
        shop where
we regularly use Ubuntu to help us make backups, do
        diagnostics, etc.
I'd love to give back to Ubuntu in a special way and thought I
        might be
able to use some of the computers that come through for
        testing. I know
some Ubuntu versions have the "system test" tool but for many
        of these
tests, I don't have the appropriate hardware like a USB mic.
        The test
tool is great, but I figure the QA people probably have a more
        complete
test tool I can be using. Something that profiles the system
        and tests
Ubuntu's compatibility with different hardware configurations.

Anyways, I just wanted to offer my assistance in testing hardware
support and what not given the large number of computers I
        work on. If
there's any way I can be of assistance, let me know and we'll work
        something out.

        Sincerely,
