Brendan, welcome to ubuntu quality! I'm happy you've decided to jump in already and test out XMir. We're actually going to be planning a special call for testing around XMir very soon, so stay tuned to help out! Don't forget we're social: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam#Social_Networks.

So, first things first, are you running a development version of ubuntu? If not, install one via a vm or on real hardware. It will let you contribute tests and results easily.

You can check out more information about contributing testcases on this wiki page. There are walkthroughs and video guides for contributing both manual and automated testcases. We welcome your contributions to both!

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/ContributingTestcases

On the test results side, we have a couple trackers we utilize. One is for images, called the iso tracker, and the other covers applications, called the packages tracker. You can submit results to these trackers at any time. Both feature a daily milestone with tests and packages or images to test. In addition, every 2 weeks roughly during the cycle we as a team make it a point to submit test results to these trackers (we call this cadence testing). Obviously not everyone can test everyday, so we encourage you to participate during these weeks. You can learn more about contributing an iso or packages test result here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Cadence%20Testing%20Walkthrough

If reading isn't your preferred way to learn, we have videos as well:

Welcome to the team, and don't hesitate to ask questions. I look forward to working with you!

Nicholas

I'm Brendan. I want to join the Ubuntu QATeam because I'm a geek who really
likes the Ubuntu OS. I want to be on the QATeam to help test pre-release
stuff for Ubuntu, also to get involved. I started testing XMir yesterday. So
far I have noticed a bug within the display server.
