Where's the bug report? Complaining is nice, but generally not practical. > This is fricking UNIX Well, if we want to be pedantic, it's not. GNU and all. As a FreeBSD user, you should know better ;-) (disclaimer: I use Linux and UNIX, too). > If Mozilla or LibreOffice want to crap out that is their problem, but > under no circumstances > can that be allowed to interfere with ANYTHING ELSE RUNNING Did you check if it's due to the OOM? > Open Source is supposed > to be about USER > CHOICE Yes, the user has a choice to download the source and fix or change anything they like. Barring that ability, bug reports are the way to alert developers to a potential problem, through information gathering and general troubleshooting. > and the least that Ubuntu should do is offer a CHOICE OF WINDOW > MANAGER I'm using awesome window manager. Installed it from the repos, too. The choice is there. If you're referring to old versions, they're there, too. It's a bit difficult to do, but you can pin an old version and it won't be updated. As with everything in the Linux/UNIX world, you can also compile from source. > This also means > that a series of window managers must be maintained and debugged in > parallel This is going on all the time, with every piece of software in the repos, not to mention new software coming in from various upstream reservoirs. Hope that helps you better understand how Ubuntu works and how you can help get your problem resolved. wxl -- Ubuntu-quality mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-quality
