16.04.3 and doesn't appear to be an issue. I am able to play youtube
videos in all browsers currently:

chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra:
  Installed: 64.0.3282.119-0ubuntu0.16.04.1

chromium-browser:
  Installed: 64.0.3282.119-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
google-chrome-stable:
  Installed: 64.0.3282.119-1
firefox:
  Installed: 58.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
opera-stable:
  Installed: 50.0.2762.67

Sounds like a Mint problem to me.

Cheers,

Jeff
