Par contre, il est important de comprendre que s'opposer à la réforme du droit d'auteur canadien est le geste d'activisme pour l'Open Source le plus important à poser en ce moment. En effet, on s'attend à ce que la réforme en question introduise un certain nombre de dispositions qui pourrait rendre la vie des utilisateurs et des développeurs d'Open Source très difficile, en criminalisant la pratique du "reverse-engineering", par exemple.
