Yes, in the same MIR bug (which would've been opened for Kinetic), add
a target to series for all the stable releases you'd like to see the
package in and let the MIR team explicitly know that.

You should perhaps MIR it first and then have it SRU'd, followed by an

No, afaiu, these are independent processes. Have it MIR'd and then SRU
it to achieve this.
