I confirm that it’s a more general problem with the UITK in xenial. Attached is a capture of the settings screen taken in a xenial VM.

But the text is not as clear as other browsers. I've attached screenshot comparisons for chrome and webbrowser-app. Not only does the text color seem whiter that I'd like, but it is also very thin (maybe we're using the Light font variant?).
