Upon removing likewise-open from my system, it seems all it's
modifications to pam are not removed. I had to comment out the
following from a live disc in order to log back in again, as I was
getting an error message "module unknown" from the terminal, and
"Authentication Failed" from GDM.
:/etc/pam.d$ grep lwident *
common-account:#account required /lib/security/pam_lwidentity.so
unknown_ok
common-account:#account sufficient /lib/security/pam_lwidentity.so
common-auth:#auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_lwidentity.so
common-password:#password sufficient /lib/security/pam_lwidentity.so
common-session:#session sufficient /lib/security/pam_lwidentity.so
This was done on Ubuntu 8.04
$ sudo apt-cache policy likewise-open
likewise-open:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 4.0.5-0ubuntu3
Version table:
4.0.5-0ubuntu3 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
