Rather than removing apparmor, try adding to mysql's apparmor profile in /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld:
/var/run/samba/winbindd_privileged/pipe rw, Then do: $ sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor force-reload $ sudo /etc/init.d/mysql stop $ sudo /etc/init.d/mysql start Please report back if this fixes your problem. If not, please post the Apparmor messages from /var/log/kern.log. -- AppArmor profile included doesn't allow mysql to bind to socket https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/306886 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.0 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
