I've found I also need to set the hostname in smb.conf, and specify how to relate to lanmanager
netbios name = <hostname> name resolve order = wins bcast lmhosts host client lanman auth = yes client ntlmv2 auth = no I've checked this out thoroughly from an Ubuntu 12.04 client on a vanilla network (adsl router linked by ethernet to multiple machines) using both a 10.04 and a 12.04 host. In that setup, all four lines are needed for nautilus to access the share's files and directories. I found that solution here http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=270346 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/811518 Title: SAMBA cannot browse Workgroups, name resolve order To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/811518/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
