Given that it is commented on the same line, it shouldn't be confusing. The reason it is done this way is so that postinst can update /etc/default/lxc-net without affect /etc/default/lxc, and without overriding any admin-provided configuration. There are other ways we could do this, but this is one of the simplest and most robust (in the face of esoteric package administration in some setups) ways.
