Thanks, but you didn't attach the log files from /var/log/samba/ for this last attempt at starting the services. Or was there nothing new in there?
That being said, I saw this snippet from nmbd: Jan 10 06:08:16 ats-pc nmbd[1085]: Failed to create /var/log/samba/cores for user 0 with mode 0700 Do you have a /var/log/samba/cores directory? Could you show me its contents? Something like: ls -la /var/log/samba/cores If it doesn't exist, can you create it? You should have it like this: # ls -lah /var/log/samba/cores/ total 2.0K drwx------ 4 root root 4 Jan 10 13:58 . drwxr-x--- 3 root adm 6 Jan 10 13:57 .. drwx------ 2 root root 2 Jan 10 13:57 nmbd drwx------ 2 root root 2 Jan 10 13:58 smbd -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1741113 Title: package samba 2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.12 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1741113/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
