ok unfortunately I need to reply in German now. the problem is that NIS users can authenticate to a ltsp client but can't use usb sticks or any usb devices. it doesn't matter if it's ldm or gdm. in my opinion this is about group permissions. entries in the NSSWITCH file were not made use of. I tried lots of different howtos they all didn't work out"
