Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bacula-server
While upgrading bacula-server on Lucid, the update process should warn the user about the required catalog database update. With the 5.0.x releases, the catalog format is now version 12 (version 11 with 3.0.x). As it is right now, the upgrade process stops bacula-director, upgrades it and then restarts it. The startup message show no error: * Stopping Bacula Director... ...done. Processing configuration...Ok. * Starting Bacula Director... ...done. But at this point the director aborts, as seen in the logs: 31-Mar 11:41 bacula-dir JobId 0: Fatal error: Version error for database "bacula". Wanted 12, got 11 31-Mar 11:41 bacula-dir JobId 0: Fatal error: Could not open Catalog "MyCatalog", database "bacula". 31-Mar 11:41 bacula-dir JobId 0: Fatal error: Version error for database "bacula". Wanted 12, got 11 31-Mar 11:41 bacula-dir ERROR TERMINATION Please correct configuration file: /etc/bacula/bacula-dir.conf I think the upgrade process should tell the admin about the required database update with an hint to the script: /usr/share/bacula-director/update_mysql_tables ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Mar 31 11:50:51 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 InstallationMedia: Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/log/installer/media-info' Package: bacula-server 5.0.1-1ubuntu1 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-16.25-server SourcePackage: bacula Uname: Linux 2.6.32-16-server x86_64 ** Affects: bacula (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- bacula-server 5.0.1: package update should warn about required database update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/552636 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to bacula in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
