Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba
After reboot, the smbd daemon sometimes does not start automatically on my server. It seems that it is trying to start when the network is not up yet. Here is the syslog excerpt: Nov 18 05:33:34 discobolos init: smbd main process (494) terminated with status 1 Nov 18 05:33:34 discobolos init: smbd main process ended, respawning Nov 18 05:33:34 discobolos init: smbd main process (497) terminated with status 1 Nov 18 05:33:34 discobolos init: smbd main process ended, respawning Nov 18 05:33:34 discobolos kernel: [ 17.519178] udev: starting version 151 Nov 18 05:33:34 discobolos init: smbd main process (500) terminated with status 1 Nov 18 05:33:34 discobolos init: smbd main process ended, respawning Nov 18 05:33:34 discobolos init: smbd main process (526) terminated with status 1 Nov 18 05:33:34 discobolos init: smbd respawning too fast, stopped And here is the corresponding smbd.log part: [2010/11/18 05:33:34, 0] smbd/server.c:1069(main) smbd version 3.4.7 started. When I start it manually afterwards all goes fine. This doesn happen after every restart though. It seems that sometimes the network does make it to start before samba daemon. Any ideas please? Does anyone have the same problem? My distro is Ubuntu server 10.04.1 LTS 64 bit.
