It looks like (according to the comments) the dovecot-postfix.postinst script should not re-configure /etc/postfix/main.cf if it has already been configured by this package; however the logic in this script always moves the current backup file (indicator that it has already been configured) prior to then testing for the presence of the backup file and the reconfiguring postfix anyway.
