This means that the init script which starts setserial is missing. Please can you confirm if this has been manually removed? You could resolve this locally by purging the package and reinstalling (note, any custom setserial settings would be lost unless you backup variations): $ sudo apt-get remove --purge setserial $ sudo apt-get install setseria However, I would like to determine if this is an actual bug with setserial - so please do provide feedback.
