Have you considered using DRBL rather than LTSP?  I deployed LTSP and 
got frustrated with it quite quickly.  However, DRBL (Diskless Remote 
Boot Linux) is an amazing piece of software that allows you to utlize 
the fill hardware of the machine locally, but booting via PXE to get the 
OS image.  Don't let the name fool ya.  You can have local disks in the 
machine as well if you wish, so it is not merely a thin-client 
application.  I highly recommend it over LTSP...
