2017/02/13 Meeting: ds-identify

A big thank you to Pat and CPC team for your advice this morning as we
walked through ds-identify and our rollout plans.

I've attempted to capture our near-term actions/decisions below.

== Near Term (aka now) ==

1) Announcement & blogging
  - pre-announce to CPC 'important customers'. Done
  - Warn STS and OpenStack
  - How to work-around with configuration/contact cloud-init dev for
addressing
  - Announce loudly with focus on improving boot time. Scott to measure
EC2 as example.
  - This week. Please review/comment on draft ASAP:

2) SRU into Yakkety: Enable fast-path, but WARN-only about EC2 network
data source fall back.

3) SRU into Xenial: SRU in ds-identify, but inert. Needed as path for
ds-identify/cloud-init into UC16.

4) Continue to fill out platform/datasource spreadsheet as way of getting
comfortable with actually disabling EC2 lookalikes in Xenial.
  - Note: nova-lxd needs changes SRU'd back else we'll break.
  - Need help from CPC to fill out wrt Cloud partners:

5) No quick way to address non-ppc64 platforms.  KVM/QEMU changes required;
unclear path to resolution. Suggest WARN-only path for now. Consider
for all baremetal even.

== Next ==

6) Need tool/utility for low-touch small partners. We limit 'what' they
can change in images; need to make sure this is dead simple for them and
for Udi to support.
