To workaround a dak upload race condition(ish) bug, the openldap debian maintainers decided to move the libldap-common package from depends to recommends in the libldap binary package. This results in some configuration not being installed when the recommended packages are not installed, possibly leading to errors. I wrote down a full analysis of the issue and a proposed path forward.
