The last two distros seem to be the same. Did some digging with the Nov 18 version. I can install all the metas except: ubuntustudio-generation ubuntustudio-recording ubuntustudio-video
The dependencies all boiled down to two packages... here are the snips from aptitude: -------------------8<--------------------------------- Libav codec library libavcodec-extra-53 conflicts with libavcodec53 --\ The following actions will resolve this dependency: -> Cancel the installation of libavcodec-extra-53 -> Remove libavcodec53 [4:0.7.2-1ubuntu1 (now, precise)] ----------------8<------------------------------------- Libav utility library libavutil-extra-51 conflicts with libavutil51 --\ The following actions will resolve this dependency: -> Cancel the installation of libavutil-extra-51 -> Remove libavutil51 [4:0.7.2-1ubuntu1 (now, precise)] ------------------8<----------------------------------- It appears that both libavcodec53 and libavutil51 need to be removed before the extra versions are installed... or whatever depends on those two libs needs to be made dependent on the extras. I am guessing that the actual lib names end up being the same for both the normal and the "extra" version. Is there a way to install things that depend on the normal without those two libs? I don't have a great understanding of the install process. Can a dummy package be made that makes it look like they are installed? There must be a proper way of doing this.
