The big change from 14.04 to 15.04 is upstart to systemd. Debian is also
switching from init to systemd (Ubuntu's upstream) and there are some
privilege kinds of things that may have changed. You may find some hints
in the "linux audio user" mailing list archives that may apply to video HW
as well.
