The bzr incantation looks OK to me from memory.

In general, if the work is a little bit experimental, I think it is better to make a "fiddle" branch locally before starting the modifications. That branch can then be pushed to your own ppa, or the team one for review and eventually merging back into trunk.

But no problems, if you push as Krytarik says, a new branch should appear on the -dev code page of Launchpad.

Sorry about the rush. Wanted to reassure you so you can keep moving (although this will need moderation anyway).

Aah, I think I misunderstood the original discussion. I thought it was
about moving to the same theme as xubuntu and tweaking some settings in
the defualt-setting package. No need to package anything.

Are we sure about this? I thought we could get numix from the
shimmer-themes source package:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shimmer-themes
At least the gtk-themes are there. But then, as I wrote before, I have
never really fiddled with themes very much.

Yes, we can get it from there, but the highlight color is red. I'm fine
with that, but it would be nice if it was blue to fit our color scheme
better. :)

Packaging something from scratch and getting it uploaded into either
Debian or Ubuntu (preferably Debian) is not something that will happen
very fast. Probably better to aim for 17.04.

Yes, to get a custom version into Debian and Ubuntu would rather be an
aim for 17.04. But i understand we could package it in our own
repository, no?

Are you talking about this software?:
https://answers.launchpad.net/~numix/+archive/ubuntu/ppa
And if so, which of the packages are we after. If it is in a ppa, it
does at least have some basic packaging we can start with.

Yes, (although, i've never seen a link to launchpad like that before..
X-D ) but the debian source is at a newer version. 2.6.1

Of course I am happy to mentor Jonathan. I am very patchy with
availability, so it would be better to do it here on the list. Then
others can learn at the same time.

Jonathan seems to need to set-up a machine first, i hope he will join-in
down the line once he is ready. However, Krytarik and I have been
looking into this the past few days. We gathered the source SVGs from
upstream to facilitate color-customization
https://github.com/numixproject/numix-gtk-theme/issues/508
and successfully made a script to convert the theme's colors and
re-render the required PNGs.

Krytarik asked me to push the custom theme to
lp:ubuntustudio-look/numix-blue-theme so that he could work on the
packaging into our repository. But i am stuck by my fear to mess-up the
ubuntustudio-look branch with my poor bzr skills.

Could you help me Ross?

This is what i have done so far:

- I pulled the branch with:
bzr branch lp:ubuntustudio-look

- I pulled the debian source of numix, and edited is as needed to turn
everything red into blue.

What i am stuck with is really a noob thing: i'm not sure how to push if
i want the theme to be a spearate branch...

i've been told (i think) by Krytarik that i could do:
'bzr push lp:~ubuntustudio-look/numix-theme-blue'
but i am affraid i might have misunderstood Krytarik's instructions and
since he is not available atm i'm asking here. The thing is that i don't
want the 'usr' and 'po' folders from ubuntustudio-look/trunk to be in
ubuntustudio-look/numix-theme-blue...

I hope i'm making sense and that we still have the time frame to do this.

Yours,
