Hi, Some more information about running Muse.
I tried Muse on my laptop that has also Ubuntu studio installed in it. Using the integrated sound card, Muse with Fluidsynth and Edirol UM-1 USB midi interface everything works like a charm. I wonder if the problems running Muse on my desktop has anything to do with my problems regarding the desktop motherboard integrated audio vs. my actual sound card. I posted also a reply to the sound card hw number changing discussion. Could my alsa drivers be somehow messed up and that's why muse will not find the Alsa timer? -Beepo Beepo / Vanguard wrote: > Hi, > > I'm trying to run muse 0.8.1 (installed from Ubuntu Studio 7.04 > repository) and I'm getting the following error message: > > [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ muse > no locale <muse_en_US.UTF-8>/</usr/share/muse/locale> > Trying RTC timer... > RtcTimer::setTimerFreq(): cannot set tick on /dev/rtc: Permission denied > precise timer not available > Trying ALSA timer... > AlsaTimer::initTimer(): timer open -19 (No such device) > muse: timer.c:549: snd_timer_info: Assertion `timer' failed. > Aborted (core dumped) > > If I try to run it as super user: > > [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo muse > no locale <muse_en_US.UTF-8>/</usr/local/share/muse/locale> > Trying RTC timer... > got timer = 12 > open projectfile: No such file or directory > starting with default template > name2route: <alsa_pcm:playback_1> not found > name2route: <alsa_pcm:playback_2> not found > DummyAudioDevice::seekTransport frame=0 topos=0 > AlsaTimer::initTimer(): timer open -19 (No such device) > muse: timer.c:549: snd_timer_info: Assertion `timer' failed. > Aborted (core dumped) > > > I also compiled the muse 0.9 from source and I'm getting the same > messages from there.
