Please, do try to help us to help you. I'm pretty sure everyone around actually realizes, that since you're using UbuntuStudio, which hasn't been released on any other platforms outside Linux, you are using Linux. For example, on my machine the above command gives the following output: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -a Linux bowmore 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 21:45:15 GMT 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux Can you spot the difference? >> #cat /etc/groups|grep audio > > No such file or directory I sincerely don't understand what the earlier poster had in mind, there's no file in /etc with the name groups. What I'm guessing is, are you a member of group "audio", which you can tell by typing the command: $ groups For me it gives: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/$ groups jaska adm dialout cdrom floppy audio dip video plugdev scanner fuse lpadmin netdev powerdev admin >> If you got the rt-kernel running and if you are in group audio, >> everything should be at its best... > > i don't understand here what you are referring to with "group audio." > could you please explain?
