I have howto (only in finnish, sorry), but it has lots of screenshots that should helps you: http://wiki.ubuntu-fi.org/Ubuntu_Studio There is section - "Avataan Qsynth" - and on that section is two links for soundfonts, I keep them in my own web-side, because soundfonts are little bit hard to find even with Google for Qsynth.
