I have just installed studio on an older machine for my nephew. In trying to install java using apt-get (so that flash will function) the install stalls on the terms/licensing screen within the terminal. See screenshot at:
http://www.golfront.org/images/javainstallshot.png I can find no way to exit this screen to complete the installation. Clicking on "<Ok>" doesn't work. Hitting "Enter" doesn't work. The scrollbar functions, but the java installation is simply stuck at this point. Is there some kind of Sun Systems secret handshake necessary to accept the terms and continue the installation or what? I've tried simply exiting the terminal, but when I open synaptic it complains that it is "Unable to obtain an exclusive lock" which would seem to indicate that apt is still running. But apt doesn't show up in a ps listing so I can't kill it. The trouble seems to be that var/lib/dpkg is locked and until I can get it unlocked I can't install anything else with either apt-get or synaptic. Is there a superuser method to unlock the directory? If I reboot, the java installation immediately starts over and hangs up at the same place. I'm stumped. If I could end the loop I could try installing with synaptic instead. I'd appreciate any help in solving this problem. - Mike -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users
