There was some discussion on the list earlier regarding Open Movie Editor. I've been seeing what Open Movie Editor can do and wrote a review today:

In short, I like it. The UI and depth of functionality can still be improved, but the existing functions work well, it is enough for basic editing and the application doesn't crash very much.
