Do you still have any of the damaged projects? Chances are excellent they can be repaired, or at least partially restored. I've probably been putting Rosegarden to actual field use longer than anyone else on the entire planet, and I can say that the characterization that it is fundamentally unreliable and unusable is undeserved. I have seen many problems that mangled the data to the point where Rosegarden could no longer read it, but the problems have all been rather trivial to repair, and the data still safe and sound underneath whatever superficial thing caused the breakage. On the other hand, I can relate to the original poster's humiliation, as I have watched all of this stuff, Rosegarden included, take a huge crap in front of a skeptical audience more times than I care to remember. I agree that if you want something to work guaranteed, fork over a gob of cash, and buy the real stuff. Even if the real stuff doesn't actually work, at least you'll be someone else's support problem. I don't mean that in a personal way directed at you, Christopher, just in general at any user who really needs something to work guaranteed. I can't make that guarantee, and I don't have a lot of patience for dealing with people who have expectations like that. They're almost impossible to satisfy. Whereas the users who are willing to take these things in stride can often work productively with the development team to build toward better results in the future. -- D.
