It sounds like he is referring to the king of long term digital storage. ~ Things like DLTs and the like. As for the original question, what tape drive do you have? Is it supported by amanda or bacula etc? Are you planning on using some sort of archiving/backup software like bacula and amanda? How big is the video you want to backup? Are there budget constraints (if you can afford modern large tape drives and the media, you may find that online services such as Amazon's S3 (I use jungledisk which makes S3 easier to interact with) may be more cost effective. How long did you want to archive this data for? Backing up video files is no different than backing up anything else, except that size of the files tends to be huge. You best bet from a size and cost perspective is get something like a drobo storage robot with the network addon. Think of it as a RAID enclosure made easy. | --- On Thu, 5/22/08, Nick Steeves <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: | |> From: Nick Steeves <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: backing up |> video to tape (DDS) To: [email protected] Date: |> Thursday, May 22, 2008, 6:28 AM Hi, |> |> I'm wondering if anyone has any experience backing up video to |> tape.
