Basically I would make one change at a time.  Disable your entries in
limits.conf, use the nv instead of nvidia xorg driver.   The last thing
 you want to enable is the nvidia driver (ie. get a stable RT recording
rig before worrying about pretty visual effects).  Maybe there are other
problems with your hardware that are the source of your troubles?  This
