Hello list, I just got my M-Audio Delta 66 soundcard today and I got it in my system. Now, I tried to get it work, but I just can get something out of the card.
So let's begin with the details. I disabled the on-board soundcard in BIOS and rebooted. So lets see: $ lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: ATI Technologies Inc RS690 Host Bridge 00:02.0 PCI bridge: ATI Technologies Inc RS690 PCI to PCI Bridge (PCI Express Graphics Port 0) 00:12.0 SATA controller: ATI Technologies Inc SB600 Non-Raid-5 SATA 00:13.0 USB Controller: ATI Technologies Inc SB600 USB (OHCI0) 00:13.1 USB Controller: ATI Technologies Inc SB600 USB (OHCI1) 00:13.2 USB Controller: ATI Technologies Inc SB600 USB (OHCI2) 00:13.3 USB Controller: ATI Technologies Inc SB600 USB (OHCI3) 00:13.4 USB Controller: ATI Technologies Inc SB600 USB (OHCI4) 00:13.5 USB Controller: ATI Technologies Inc SB600 USB Controller (EHCI) 00:14.0 SMBus: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 SMBus Controller (rev 14) 00:14.1 IDE interface: ATI Technologies Inc SB600 IDE 00:14.3 ISA bridge: ATI Technologies Inc SB600 PCI to LPC Bridge 00:14.4 PCI bridge: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 PCI to PCI Bridge 00:18.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 [Athlon64/Opteron] HyperTransport Technology Configuration 00:18.1 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 [Athlon64/Opteron] Address Map 00:18.2 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 [Athlon64/Opteron] DRAM Controller 00:18.3 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 [Athlon64/Opteron] Miscellaneous Control 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 8800 GT (rev a2) 02:07.0 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies Inc. RTL-8110SC/8169SC Gigabit Ethernet (rev 10) I am not quite sure, but there is a PCI Multi-Channel card which should be mine. As I saw on the m-audio site that drivers for this card are available from opensound.com, I downloaded the file " oss-linux-4.1-1051_amd64.deb" there and installed it. So far, so good. Now, next goal would be that the soundcard is giving out something via one of the 4 outputs. And this is were I fail. So lets see: $ ossinfo Version info: OSS 4.1 (b 1051/200812302211) (0x00040100) Platform: Linux/x86_64 2.6.24-23-rt #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Mon Jan 26 02:32:55 UTC 2009 (mick-recstudio) Number of audio devices: 10 Number of audio engines: 10 Number of mixer devices: 2 Device objects 0: osscore0 OSS core services 1: oss_envy240 M Audio Delta 66 interrupts=1704919 (1704919) 2: oss_usb0 USB audio core services 3: usb046d08b2-0 Logitec Quickcam Pro 4000 (mic) 4: usb046d08b2-1 Logitec Quickcam Pro 4000 (mic) Mixer devices 0: M Audio Delta 66 (Mixer 0 of device object 1) 1: Logitec Quickcam Pro 4000 (mic) (Mixer 0 of device object 3) Audio devices M Audio Delta 66 out1/2 /dev/oss/oss_envy240/pcm0 (device index 0) M Audio Delta 66 out3/4 /dev/oss/oss_envy240/pcm1 (device index 1) M Audio Delta 66 S/PDIF out /dev/oss/oss_envy240/spdout (device index 2) M Audio Delta 66 in1/2 /dev/oss/oss_envy240/pcmin0 (device index 3) M Audio Delta 66 in3/4 /dev/oss/oss_envy240/pcmin1 (device index 4) M Audio Delta 66 S/PDIF in /dev/oss/oss_envy240/spdin (device index 5) M Audio Delta 66 input from mon. mixer /dev/oss/oss_envy240/mon (device index 6) M Audio Delta 66 (all outputs) /dev/oss/oss_envy240/10ch_out (device index 7) M Audio Delta 66 (all inputs) /dev/oss/oss_envy240/12ch_in (device index 8) Logitec Quickcam Pro 4000 (mic) rec /dev/oss/usb046d08b2-1/pcmin0 (device index 9) Ah, the soundcard is correctly detected. So I start $ ossxmix and, in another bash $ osstest In ossxmix, I see that something is happening, but I can't hear something via speakers or headphones. I guess it has to do something with jackd, but as I am not quite into the basics, perhaps somebody could tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks a lot Regards, Dennis -- Psssst!
