I guess you know this already, but the new (beta) of 64studio (http://www.64studio.com/) is based on ubuntu hardy. I have successfully updated a plain ubuntu hardy to their 3.0 beta by adding the repositories and installed the appropriate packages. There is a rt 2.6.29 kernel as well as updated rosegarden ardour and so forth.
