Hi guys,

The release candidate statement for Ubuntu Studio 9.04 says that ext4 is not recommended. This comes a bit a late for me because I've already converted my household to ext4 weeks ago. (Living on the edge, baby!)

Can anybody provide more details as to why this is not recommended? Is it the linux-rt kernel? Is it that audio apps feature that silly fsync "bug"?

I guess what I can do at this stage is create a special ext3 partition for just saving my audio data. (I'm a heavy user of Ardour.) Would that be enough, or should I just avoid using ext4 via linux-rt altogether? If I insist, what would be the consequences?

(By the way, is there a recommended Linux filesystem for audio work?)

The return of linux-rt to Ubuntu makes me very, very happy. :) I bow in gratitude before the team's dev, packaging, and bureaucratic prowess at bringing this release together.
