In the end, changing the software synthesizer to ZynAddSubFx instead of QSynth seems to do the trick, since it has options to do a Glogal or a per-instrument keyshift, plus a fine tune/detune knob, with an integrated keyboard to test the exact tuning in Hz, so I think this should be fine.
