+1 Again, XFCE is a good environment, but some things are simple when using GNOME and become a PITA for other DEs. GNOME is the best choice. Better switch to a kernel-rt than to switch the DE, if you wish to win something. Nothing that is relevant for a DAW will be faster when using XFCE.
